I raised some hell with the county’s business affairs office about a home heating and cooling company which probably doesn’t exist any more — this was about 20 years ago. I can’t predict how evil the people are in your case, but the bozo who had negotiated the work with my landlady made a similar threat and nothing ever happened. They usually do not want the law to look into their doings. The moving rescue site you consulted probably has some good references about your legal standing.
